Salzburg City Tour & Mozart’s Residence (Join-in)
- Discover the beauty of Mozart´s birth place on a walk with the experienced guide through the UNESCO city of Salzburg, and be enchanted by its flair. The tour begins by the Palace of Mirabell, which was built in the year 1606 for the Archbishop Wolf Dietrich and is today home to the office of the local Mayor and city offices. Then pass the Mozarteum (University of Music), one of the world’s most prestigious music academies. Passing the Marionette Theatre, you will arrive in Markart Square with the Landestheatre (The Regional Theatre), The Trinity Church, a baroque masterpiece from Fischer von Erlach, plus Mozart’s Wohnhaus (Mozart’s Residence), where the composer lived for many years. Crossing over the Salzach (Salt) river, which was once a major transport route, you will have a wonderful view of this magical city.
- Following the river along part of the old fortifications, you will pass the Law Courts on the way to the Hellbrunn Palace, where you will have a short photo stop. Hellbrunn Palace was built in the early 17th century to the design of the great architect Santino Solari and used as a hunting lodge and weekend residence by Salzburg’s Archbishops. On the way back to the city center, you will pass the Palace of Frohnburg and the Nonnberg Abbey, situated beneath the impressive Hohensalzburg Fortress, before entering the heart of the city through the Siegmunds Gate. Salzburg’s Old Town was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. Once in the old town, you will pass by the Festival Halls, Old University, Horse Bath, Getreidegasse and the Blasius Church. The tour finishes at Mozart’s Residence, where you’ll enjoy free admission into the Mozart Museum to learn more about his life. The duration of the tour is approx. 2,5 hrs. Meeting point in the city center at Mirabellplatz 2.
12:45 Tour to UNESCO World Heritage Site - Hallstatt (Join-in)
- Spend half of a day with history and culture in Austria's scenic Salzkammergut Lake District. Travelling directly from Salzburg to Hallstatt, the bus will take you past Gosau, Russbach and Abtenau. As you pass by Gosau, enjoy great views of Dachstein. Due to the extraordinary beauty of Hallstatt´s landscape, it was declared a World Heritage Site in 1997 by UNESCO. Let the unique charm of this historic town bewitch you. Take this opportunity to visit the famous Beinhaus (Charnel House) with its painted skulls.
- After a sufficient amount of time in Hallstatt, you will continue to Bad Ischl, which still holds remnants of the time when it was used as a summer home by Emperor Franz Josef´s imperial court. Bad Ischl was also the home of Franz Lehar and his house is now a museum to his life. Spend a relaxing moment or two walking around the town center, passing the Spa Centre, Lehar Theatre, local museum or perhaps enjoying one of the famous coffee houses, for example, Café Zauner. On the return journey you will travel back through the lake area on route to Salzburg. The duration of the tour is approx. 5 hrs. Meeting point in the city center at Mirabellplatz 2.
